Autotrader is owned by eBay Classifieds Group and is a part of CarsGuide Autotrader Media Solutions.
Autotrader promotes transparency, which means we promote dealer businesses and display details like dealer name, address, sales people contact details and photos. We believe this is important information for consumers when they’re searching for their next car.
Autotrader has a very small proportion of private party vehicles, so dealer stock doesn’t have to compete with often cheaper private party cars.
Autotrader also has a different payment model. Dealers only pay a small fee* (between $0.49 and $0.75) when one of their listings is viewed by a consumer. We call this ‘pay per view’. There is a maximum cap per vehicle that dealers can be charged of $53.95. All views over this cap are free of charge. Phone leads, email leads, walk ins and clicks to the dealer website are all free as well. There are a range of additional products which dealers can purchase separately to optimise listings.
*every listing has a $2 set up fee. All prices are exclusive of GST.
Facebook Marketplace is one of the newest market places in Australia. It’s another potential source of leads for your cars. When you list with Autotrader, we list your cars on Facebook Marketplace (as well as CarsGuide) at the same time free of charge. Its one of a number of initiatives we’re doing to help get dealers more leads.
Your leads from Facebook Marketplace along with CarsGuide and Autotrader can be conveniently viewed in one place, the Dealer Hub.
If you would like to opt out of this service, please contact your Autotrader Account Manager or our customer service team 1300 662 133 services@autotrader.com.au.

You can view your leads on the Dealer Hub. This includes Autotrader, Carsguide and Facebook Marketplace leads. You’ll also get additional information like recorded phone conversations or the message they sent you.
You will also receive leads via email from leads@autotrader.com.au or leads@carsguide.com.au.
If you’re not receiving your lead emails they may be going into your spam folder. Save ‘leads@autotrader.com.au’ and ‘leads@carsguide.com.au’ to your address book and they should come through.
If you have any further questions, give Customer Service a call on 1300 662 133 or email services@autotrader.com.au.
At Autotrader and CarsGuide we provide consumers with several options for contacting you if they’re interested in your cars, including traditional web leads, phone leads and also address details so they can ‘walk in’. ‘Walk ins’ are a great option for those consumers who don’t want to hand over their details (as required with a web lead) but are still a serious buyer. We often find that ‘walk in’ leads are more primed buyers than traditional web leads.
You’ll also find with our model that there are less wasted leads with requests for information like addresses.
If you would like more information about our pricing model, please contact your Autotrader Account Manager or our customer service team 1300 662 133 services@autotrader.com.au.
The Dealer Hub is your online portal for monitoring and managing the performance of your vehicles on the Autotrader network.
You’ll see where your vehicles fall within the Kelley Blue Book Price Advisor zones, marketing reports, web and phone leads and marketing tools such as the Silent Salesman poster.
If you would like access to your Dealer Hub, please contact your Autotrader Account Manager or our customer service team 1300 662 133 services@autotrader.com.au.
The Dealer Hub is only offered to Autotrader and CarsGuide dealers so you will need to contact us to get your unique link to create a login.
If you would like to access your Dealer Hub please contact your account manager or our customer service team 1300 662 133 services@autotrader.com.au.
PPV stands for ‘Pay Per View’ which is how we calculate our pricing. Your PPV Reports contain your marketing spend for each month. They detail the amount accrued on each of your vehicles from views from both CarsGuide and Autotrader.
You will also see whether your vehicle has reached the price cap of either $47.95 for vehicles priced over $7,500 or $19.95 for vehicles priced under $7,500*.
*Pricing may vary based on pre-negotiated deals. Prices are exclusive of GST.
The Kelley Blue Book® Price Advisor provides a fair market estimate range for vehicles, showing how the advertised price of a vehicle compares to similar listings in Australia. If you would like more information on Kelley Blue Book® visit their website: www.kbb.com.au.
Kelley Blue Book® Price Advisor is based on the advertised price of similar cars listed on CarsGuide and Autotrader.
The Kelley Blue Book® Price Advisor uses data from thousands of auto listings to give you a more accurate price range.
There are three categories into which your vehicle may fall: White, Green, Red.
This means your vehicle is priced below the fair market estimate range. This may be due to several reasons including: the condition of the car, high supply, or low demand.
If your listing has fallen within the Green Zone it is within the fair market estimate range.
This means the vehicle is priced within the same range as similar vehicles advertised in Australia.
If your car has fallen into the Red Zone this means your vehicle is priced above the fair market estimate range. This may be due to optional extras, accessories, low supply, high demand.
If your vehicle is within the red zone it’s important to tell consumers why. We’ve built into the dealer hub a facility where you can add notes listing the additional features which have put the car into the red zone. These notes will show up in your ad under the Price Advisor. We also recommend you show photographs of these features.
If you feel, based on local knowledge, that your car’s been incorrectly placed in the red zone click on the Pricing Feedback icon in the Kelley Blue Book® section of the Dealer Hub to leave feedback.
Since the Kelley Blue Book® bases its Price Advisor on actual listings, sometimes there isn’t enough data to generate a Fair Market estimate range.
Price Advisor requires a minimum amount of information to generate a fair market estimate range.
We are acquiring more data daily which will mean more cars will have a direct comparison in the future.
Mostly, our pricing works on a pay per view (PPV) system. This means that you’ll be charged every time someone views your advertisement on either Autotrader, or CarsGuide. The amount is mostly capped at $53.95 for cars over $7,500, however cars under $7,500 the cap is $25.95. Once someone is on your ad page, lead submissions are free of charge.
There is one cap for Autotrader and CarsGuide (Facebook Marketplace is free), so the most you can pay for marketing one vehicle across our network is $53.95*.
If you’re not sure how your pricing is calculated get in contact with your account manager or customer service on 1300 662 133 or email services@autotrader.com.au.
*Pricing may vary based on pre-negotiated deals. Prices exclude GST.
Check ‘PPV Reports’ (Pay Per View Reports) on your Dealer Hub, these reports are updated daily with the marketing spend of each of your listings on Autotrader and CarsGuide.
Additionally, you will receive a monthly report with your invoice at the end of each month.
